Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later Apparently started Filming

The long awaited 28 Years Later sequel has taken a step closer with reports saying filming has started in Holy Island North East England.
The film will be the sequel to Danny Boyle‘s 2002 28 Days later, the post apocalyptic thriller . 2007 there was 28 Weeks Later, a standalone sequel which starred Robert Carlyle, Jeremy Renner, Rose Byrne and Imogen Poots.
Oscar winning Boyle will be returning with Cillian Murphy will be returning as Jim whom we first met in London, who travelled to Manchester. The aftermath finding himself in Cumbria, North West England, now in North East England.
The BBC are reporting film crews have been seen around Holy Island area. Also Newcastle the biggest city in the area and nearby Kielder Forest the past few weeks. Also in the report there is a video which locals are interviewed and if they knew about the film.
“I always think it’s good when they use local areas for stuff, also it brings more tourists to the island,” said one of the local residents. The production did seek extras with many locals wanted especially those who are ‘Athletic types’ as they’ll have lots of running to do.
The previous films the infected have been called ‘zombies’ which they are not. Fans of the previous films (like us) will tell you they are affected with Rage, Zombies is however possibly the closest thing to the infected. What was terrifying about the original film, the idea was all based around viral diseases, and that 18 years later a ‘global pandemic’ hit.
Very little is known about the script and how Jim finds himself once again in a different part of the country. What we can tell you is the new cast will include Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell and Ralph Fiennes.
28 Years Later is set for a June 2025 release date.
