Interview: Director Christian Gudegast on Sequels, Action, Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr and Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.

Originally released in January in the US, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera will be released on Amazon Prime in the UK this month.

The action-packed sequel, inspired by the 2003 Antwerp diamond heist, was written and directed by Christian Gudegast. Following on from the original Den of Thieves, this sequel finds Nick on the hunt for Donnie in Europe. Meanwhile, Donnie and the infamous panther mafia plot a heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange.

We spoke to writer/director Christian Gudegast about the process of bringing his sequel to life, including the chemistry between his main actors and the difficulties in bringing the sequel to the screen. Throughout the interview, Gudegast also teased some details about the freshly announced third film, including how Nick and Donnie’s dynamic may shift in a third installment.

Synopsis: Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. return as Detective ‘Big Nick’ O’Brien and master thief Donnie Wilson in Den of Thieves: Pantera, the sequel to the 2018 action-heist hit. Now, the stakes have never been higher as enemies become allies.
