Celine Song’s Past Lives Gets A UK Trailer

Past Lives coming to the UK from 8th September from Studiocanal

Studiocanal have released the the UK Trailer for critically acclaimed romantic drama Past Lives.

The film is the directorial feature debut for Korean-Canadian director Celia Song. The film was one of the big standouts from this year’s Sundance Film Festival and every festival it’s played it’s left with rave reviews.

The film stars Greta Lee (Russian Doll), Teo Yoo (Decision to Leave) and John Magaro (The Many Saints of Newark).

We follow childhood friends Nora (Lee) and Hae Sung (Yoo), sweethearts from the day they met. Things change when Nora and her family emigrate from South Korea to New York, USA. Two decades after Nora moved to the States they once again reunited, sharing a week to confront their feelings and choices.

The film challenges if it what is happening is destiny. From the trailer Nora has moved on with a new happy married life and her former sweetheart is a test of her current life. Despite the trailer teasing the direction of Nora’s life, we still don’t know Hae Sung’s motivations. Personally I can relate to things that are happening here, who is now home in her homeland China. It’s a story that reflects the choices we make, choose wisely.

Nora (Greta Lee) and Hae Sung (Teo Yoo), two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrest apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life, in this heartrending modern romance.

Past Lives will be released in the UK and Irish cinemas from 8th September.
