Bryan Cranston To Play Big Bad in TOTAL RECALL Remake?

This news broke late last night and has brought a little bit of excitement and coolness  to the Len Wiseman remake of the Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 sci-fi TOTAL RECALL. So what have they done? Hired Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston!

When you have a cult Arnold Schwarzenegger movie been remade by the man who directed Underworld, Die Hard 4 it doesn’t inspire you much to think this movie maybe anything exciting but now Cranston is onboard things look a bit better now. So who will he be playing then? First reports were saying he was to play Richter who was originally played by Michael Ironside but Heat Vision have gooten basic plot details along the character Cranston  is to play and thats Vilos Cohaagen (originally played by Ronny Cox).

As for the plot here’s what they said:

The new story involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.  Cranston would play Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.

Sounds a little 1984 this, waring states but at the same time very different from the original as theres no word on and if Mars will be in this version of the movie though is still a little of the original spirit still alive. Looking at the evidence we dont know exactly yet if this will be a direct remake or a re adaptation of the 1966 Phillip K Dick book We can it For You Wholesale

So now we have Colin Farrell as our hero and Bryan Cranston as our bad guy what about the leading lady? There’s been several names been mentioned Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger, Eva Mendes, Paula Patton, Jessica Biel and Eva Green who will fight out the right to play either Lori or Melinda.

So whats your thoughts on Total Recall? Should there be another version? whats your views on the latest news?
