Netflix have released the first official Trailer for Maestro starring, written and directed by Bradley Cooper. The biopic on legendary American composer Leonard Bernstein with Cooper taking that lead role starring along side Carey Mulligan.

Like Bernstein, this film has garnered some history to become a reality. Originally this was meant to have been directed by Steven Spielberg, things happened and Cooper took over. This film is Cooper‘s second feature after his 2018 Oscar winning feature debut Star Is Born co-starred Lady Gaga. Martin Scorsese was also in line to direct he’s onboard as a producer along side Spielberg and Todd Phillips.

Bernstein was a son of Jewish Ukrainian immigrants, a multi-talented, Grammy winning (16 times) conductor/ Composer. He would create the music for many great musicals with West Side Story the stand out. He would sadly die at the age of 72 in 1990 and Maestro will focus on Bernstein’s lifelong relationship with actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein (Mulligan). It will also touch base on alleged stories of his sexuality and relationships with men.

Maestro is a towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between cultural icon Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, Maestro, at its core, is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.

The rest of this film also stars Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor.

Netflix are stating ‘Coming Soon’ for Maestro in the UK and Ireland. A date has been mentioned for a limited cinema release of 22nd November then 20th December streaming on Netflix. Those dates are only been stated for USA only, however it’s expected UK and Ireland will follow. The film before then will make it’s world premiere at Venice Film Festival next month.
