Benny Chan’s Film Raging Fire Starring Donnie Yen Gets UK Release!

Raging Fire (2020)

We do love our old school Hong Kong action crime thrillers, Benny Chan‘s Raging Fire will deliver that nostalgic action. Starring action superstar Donnie Yen, sadly it also marks the final film of popular Hong Kong director  Chan who ed away last year.

The film has picked up some fantastic reviews and CineAsia have picked up the rights to distribute the film in the UK and Ireland. Today they announce the film will get a UK cinema release in November with a Home entertainment release coming in January 2022. Before then the film is set to open London East Asia Film Festival 2021 on Thursday 21st October.

Our genre editor Bradley Hadcroft last month watched the film at Fantasia Fest, giving it 5 star rating. Calling it ” a towering behemoth of escapist destruction. One that effortlessly destroys virtually all other action flicks in of scale, ambition, off-the-charts violence, and not least technical purity.”

The film tells the story of a noble cop (Yen) whose sting operation is ripped apart thanks to a group of criminals led by a former protégé. A rising star in the force driven to a life of crime and bears a grudge with a core to settle.

CineAsia haven’t released a UK Trailer just yet. Below is the U.S version of the Trailer

Get ready for Raging Fire, an action-packed, modern Hong Kong crime classic starring international superstar Donnie Yen (Ip Man 1-4, Flash Point, Rogue One) also marking the final film of writer and director Benny Chan (Invisible Target, Call of Heroes).

While conducting a raid to arrest a drug lord, police encounter a group of masked thugs. In a violent act of sabotage, the gang steals the drugs and murders the police officers on the scene. Arriving late, Inspector Cheung Shung-bong (Donnie Yen) is devastated to see the brutal aftermath, discovering the cop killers are led by Ngo (Nicholas Tse, New Police Story, Shaolin), his former protégé. Once a rising star in the police who was driven to a life of crime, he now bears a grudge. As their fates become entangled again, a score will be settled once and for all.

Packed full of exhilarating action and Yen’s signature world class fight scenes, Raging Fire is one of the best Hong Kong movies of recent times and a throwback to the golden age of action cinema.

Co-starring Nicholas Tse, Jeana Ho, Ray Lui, Patrick Tam, Ben Lam, Deep Ng, and Kang Yu.

Raging Fire will be released in UK cinemas from 12th November and on Blu-ray, DVD & Digital from 10th January 2022.
