Assassin’s Creed First Trailer Works In The Dark,Serves The Light

“Could this be it?” Could the long long road to a video game movie adaptation finally be happening? If Duncan Jones Warcraft doesn’t steal the crown, could this Christmas and Assassin’s Creed steal the crown? This morning we finally get to see the first official UK trailer for the internationally acclaimed video game and is Michael Fassbender the man to lead the line?
Hoods Up, let’s get eagle-eyed as Fassbender becomes our 15th Century secret society assassin as we work the dark to serve the light. After working with the actor on MacBeth, Justin Kurzel has the mighty task (with Fassbender producing) of bringing one of the biggest gaming franchises to the big screen. Technically this is not a direct adaptation. But fear not it looks like a version that fans will appreciate and of course Alan Rikkin (Jeremy Irons) solidify’s the games connection as the CEO of Abstergo (& templar too)
Assassin’s Creed we meet Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) and estrange violent man on death row, who through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, he descended from 15th Century Assassins. Thanks to an device called Animus he experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguila who also a member of a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.A fight for humanity begins.
You may ask where’s Desmond Miles? As this is more of an original story (which some will say this is more an companion piece) Desmond has still influenced Callum in many ways. I’ve never really played the game however the ways he has inspired fans of the franchise will recognise those traits. 15th Century Spain setting is a new one but like many things don’t be surprised if this film works a game version will be released. The cinematography does look awesome and those parkour/combat moves our hero is known for seem to be here too. The only let down is the choice of music which unfortunately is Kanye West.
Many previous video game adaptations have been accused been going light on the cast, this film however has some serious big hitters.Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson,Michael K. Williams and Ariane Labad. So what do you think?
Assassin’s Creed will arrive in UK&Ireland from 1st January 2017.
