SALT 2 – Will Need New Director, PHILLIP NOYCE Not involved…
Last night I was finally able to watch SALT on DVD (watch out for review tomorrow) and I have to say it wasnt that bad. Asutralian moviesite MOVIEHOLE caught up with Phillip Noyce the director of the movie in a recent interview which he annouced he wasnt going to be onboard for SALT 2 despite rumours saying he would be.
As for the sequel nothing has actually been annouced by Sony but the sucess of the movie has left it opened for a second movie (possibly more depending how they want to expand on the character), but they will have to find a new director.
“Those 3 [alternate] Blu-ray cuts [of the film] represent just about everything I have to offer on Everlyn Salt”, says the filmmaker. “If there ever is a sequel, better its directed by someone with a completely fresh take on what I believe could be a totally entertaining and complex series of stories.”
If there was alot of problems with a movie which has been created to play out a few sequels its unusal for a director to call it a day on movie one but Noyce believes he did what he could on it, which is a shame as the movie had a lot of twists and turns.
In the interview Noyce mentioned a few projects he has lined up.
”Christopher Hampton, of Atonement fame, is currently in negotiations to rework the Dirt Music script, with Russell Crowe confirmed to play singer/song writer Luther Fox.Its a film about the transporting power of love and music.
“I’m also working with Salt producer Sunil Perkash and writer Bill Kelly (Enchanted) on another romantic drama called “Timeless”, being financed by Relativity.”

It might be good to make a new take on the movie with a different director, but they better know who to make it completed and not go on a side path like most secuels. Especially this type of film just think about it.
